Fix your cataracts and restore your vision, with or without glasses

We have provided everything you need to know about cataract and how we can treat it

Cataracts are clouds that appear in the lens of the eye with age. Cataract is the medical term for cataracts.

You are over 56 years old

You experience blurred and foggy vision. You may experience increasing difficulty seeing at night and colors appear dimmer. You can look worse when doing a hobby and/or not recognizing faces on the street. You have difficulty reading the newspaper and / or reading the text on TV. If this describes you, you may have cataracts. We can help you see clearly again - and often at the same time remove your need to use glasses or contact lenses.

  • Increasing age
  • Diabetes
  • Excessive exposure to sunlight
  • Smoking
  • Obesity
  • High blood pressure
  • Previous eye injury or inflammation
  • Previous eye surgery
  • Prolonged use of corticosteroid medications
  • Drinking excessive amounts of alcohol

Before you are scheduled for cataract surgery, an ophthalmologist must have established the diagnosis of cataracts and found an indication for surgery.

After that, several measurements must be taken of the eyes, so that you know what strength you should have on the lens you implant in your particular eye.

Lens Replacement is a very good solution if you want a safe and effective treatment for nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia.

During a cataract operation , instruments are entered into the eye through small incisions of about 2 mm and the lens nucleus is removed using ultrasound. The lens capsule itself remains in the eye. An artificial lens is then implanted, which rests in the bag that forms the lens capsule.

Is my cataract ready to be removed?

A cataract does not need to be ‘ripe’ for removal. Cataract surgery can be an appropriate treatment when the symptoms are sufficiently troublesome for you, and when you are willing to consider ways to improve your vision.

Will I have to wear glasses after my cataract is removed?

Not necessarily. This depends on the type of lens implant you choose to receive.

With a monofocal lens, you will need glasses for reading.

With a multifocal lens implant you will have a greater degree of freedom from glasses, including a greater ability to read without glasses.
