We have provided everything you need to know about astigmatism and how we can treat it
  • Astigmatism, unlike normal vision, occurs when the cornea is shaped like a rugby ball or American football (more curved in one direction than the other). It often occurs in combination with short-sightedness or nearsightedness (myopia) and hyperopia.
  • This irregular shape causes light to focus on more than one point on the retina, resulting in blurry and distorted vision.
  • Astigmatism symptoms may include;
    • Blurry, distorted vision at all distances
    • Diplopia
  • Astigmatism is usually present at birth. It can result from an injury, scar or operation to the eye, particularly if the corneal surface is damaged. It can also result from anything pressing persistently on the cornea's surface (such as a large lump on the eyelid), which pushes it out of shape.
  • Astigmatism can run in families and seems to be more common in premature or low-birth-weight babies. This may be because the cornea did not have enough time to develop properly in the womb.
We can diagnose astigmatism with an eye exam. A complete eye exam involves a series of tests to check your eye health and refraction, which determines how your eyes bend light. We may use various instruments and ask you to look through several lenses.

Lens Replacement/ICL is a very good solution if you want a safe and effective treatment for nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia.

Learn More
